Frequently asked questions

The questions that come up most often, answered plainly. Nothing here is medical advice, and no product on this site prevents anything.

One thing before the questions

Nothing about this decision needs to happen today. A bathroom that has been difficult for two years will still be there next week, and every quote worth having will still be valid.

Frequently asked

Walk-in tub or accessible shower?

For most households, a shower, and for somebody who wants a proper bath and cannot manage a tub wall, a tub. The four questions that settle it are on tub or shower.

Do walk-in tubs prevent falls?

No product on this site prevents falls, and no page here will claim otherwise. A bathroom can be made easier and more comfortable to use; that is a real benefit and a different claim.

What does it cost?

No figure appears anywhere here, deliberately: in this category a published number becomes an anchor a salesperson can beat in your living room. What the number is made of is on what drives cost.

Will our water heater fill a walk-in tub?

It is the first thing to check, and the thing most sales visits mention last, see walk-in tub installation.

How long is the bathroom out of use?

Often a few days for a fixture replacement, weeks for a remodel. Ask specifically how many days the room is unusable rather than how long the project lasts.

Is any of this covered by insurance or assistance?

[No coverage, benefit, assistance or tax statement is published on this site. To be researched, cited and dated before publication.]Check directly with the programme or insurer, and treat a salesperson’s summary of your eligibility as a sales claim.

A salesperson will not leave. What do we do?

“Thank you, I will be in touch” is a complete sentence and needs no justification. Anyone may end a visit at any time. What such a visit looks like, and how to run it on your terms, is on choosing an installer.

We signed and want to cancel.

There may be a cancellation right for contracts signed at home, with a time limit that varies. [To be cited accurately from federal and state sources before publication.] Act quickly, and get advice from a consumer protection office or an attorney.

Does an accessible bathroom hurt resale?

A local question for a local agent. A well-executed level-entry shower is generally regarded as neutral or positive; a bathroom that looks institutional is a different matter, and that is a design question rather than an accessibility one.

Who does the work?

We do. The survey, the demolition, the plumbing, the waterproofing, the tiling and the fittings are ours, under one license and one written quote. We are not tied to any manufacturer, which is why we can tell you a product is wrong for your room, see about us.
