Is there such a thing as a free walk-in shower?

Almost every page competing for them implies that a program exists which will pay for the work, and uses that implication to book a sales appointment.

So, plainly: there is no general national program that gives an older adult a free walk-in shower or a free walk-in tub. What does exist, in general terms

Real assistance exists, it is fragmented, and none of it is automatic. The categories worth knowing about:

Every one of those is incompatible with a same-day close, which is worth noticing. If a salesperson is pressing for a signature this evening, they are not preparing a program application. The same list is most of how an installer should be judged, whether or not a program is involved.

Medicare, since it is the most common assumption

Medicare does not, as a general rule, pay for home modifications like showers, tubs or grab bars, because it covers medical care rather than building work. Advantage plans have occasionally offered limited allowances for home safety items, plan by plan and year by year.
